What to do about it?

It is obvious that the current "pay-for-play" system is corrupting political process and is the cornerstone of many political decisions in Washington, that are hurting the entire country. In order to fix this problem, this nation needs an election campaign reform to keep the big money from influencing political process and to insure the fairness of the political process expressed by the universal principle - one man, one vote.

Such change will effectively make the government accountable to the people.

Unfortunately, both major parties are addicted to their big donor contributions and are unwilling to change the system.

Thus, there is only one way to address the situation - work for the election of independent and third party candidates, who will have to promise to work for election campaign reform, and then make them accountable for their campaign promises.

Politicians are one of the most distrusted categories of people - it is also quite known that they will promise anything to get elected. One solution to this is to make sure that these candidates are not career politicians, and, after they are elected, the task is to continue working with them to insist that they keep their commitments. If they don't - replace them when they come up for re-election.

However, changing election campaign system cannot be the only issue on the agenda. As Abraham Lincoln had said - the government has to work for the people, and there is a lot to be done to fix the many years of bad political decisions and "redistribution of wealth" to the ruling oligarchy.
