Obama message to kids - Study, study, study hard

It seems that the answer to many unemployed or underemployed Americans is that they don't have proper education.

In 2003 I was in the group of outsourced computer programmers who met with a Congressman from New Jersey (he still has that position). His answer to our question about outsourcing and importation of cheap foreign labor was to claim that there was a shortage of glass-cutters. Thus, he was effectively telling people with advanced college degrees and years of experience in the field to learn this trade.

The absurdity of his advise became very clear - even to him, but the general advice never changed. We are told over and over again about the importance of education.

With millions of unemployed, with recent college grads not finding any work or employed in menial jobs, the establishment is still pushing this line. Study, study hard and you will get a shot at that $25K/year job.

Considering that colleges are not free, more and more Americans are asking - does it make any business sense to sink time and money into an investment that has no or very little lifetime?
