On the eighth's anniversary of 9/11 and the seventhiest's of WWII
It is often said that generals fight old wars.
For example, after World War French had build the Maginot Line, as they relied on the old strategy of static defense. Germans used new weapons and tactics, and French defenses crumbled after two days. As the result French army was defeated and France was occupied.
I used to visit World Trade Center a lot. Prior to 1993 attack access to the building was easy. After the February 1993 attack, access to the floors was limited to employees. Unarmed security guards were manning access to ground floor elevators. Visitors had to sign at the security desk. General public could still access observation floor and Windows of the World restaurant.
Of course, these fake security precautions did not stop 9/11.
After 9/11 the craziness escalated. False security feature are everywhere.
For example, bags of visitors to many office buildings are now subject to routine searches. These searches are done by security guards. I once asked a guard what they are looking for. His response - "anything suspicious."
Somehow I doubt that a low-paid, poorly-trained, unarmed guard will be able to recognize a bacteriological of chemical weapon, and, then, to stop the next terrorist attack.
